In need of a hostel checklist? Looks like you’re back to college, kids. And that’s awesome. Because you’ve done enough time keeping yourself awake for those boring online classes. And now, things are gonna get exciting . And not to sound like a party pooper, but things are gonna get taxing too. Especially given you’re moving to a hostel. So that’s exactly why we’re here. To share a list of essential things for hostel life. So you can ride that good ol’ first-year college wave without anything blocking your way.
And don’t worry, we’re not gunna sell you yet another Ponzi scheme at the end of this page. In fact, we’re here to sell you exactly what you’re looking for. That is, a super and a duper convenient place to stay. And that’s none other than our own Stanza Living residences. 450+ in number and located in prime areas across 24+ cities. Trust us, it’s way easier than flirting with your crush while your teacher is calling out your name on Google Meet lol.
move to a new city.
You see, nobody’s gonna take care of your personal essentials. And if you’re thinking you’ll borrow them from your roomie, don’t. First, because it’s too soon to even ask that. And second, it might just be off-putting for you roomie anyway. Plus, if you’re into specific products or skincare routines, then it’s better to purchase new bottles in your hometown. You never know if those products will be available in the new city. But if you use a LUX like we do, then no problem.
If you’re moving during winter, then be sure to carry a comforter. And we say comforter instead of a blanket as they’re easier to fit into your luggage. Plus, you know why this is so important? Well, here’s an example. If you come from a mildly chill winter in your hometown, and you shift to Delhi without a comforter to jump under, then oh boi. You’ll wish you had watched those Bear Gryll episodes – where he went on and on about hypothermia – with a bit more attention.
Smartphones. Cables. Chargers. Tablets. Laptops. Whatever’s the number of gadgets you use, make sure to arrange them neatly in your backpack. Plus, make sure to get a few velcro straps so your cables don’t twist and you don’t end up sorting them out for 2 hours the moment you enter your hostel room for the first time. On top of it, we’re stressing on the fact that you pack all your electronics in a single backpack. Coz remember? Airport security checks? The thing we all hate? Yes, that.
Whatever’s the kind of footwear you use inside your home, make sure to carry a pair. Because again, it’s nice not to borrow your roomie’s sandals right on the first day. Even though, you’d prolly do that later at one point anyway. So pack those crocs. Because you don’t wanna visit the shared loo wearing a dirty pair of boots after arriving at your residence, do you?
You and I both know, no matter how swanky your hostel might be, you’ll spend more time out than inside your room. And it’s why you should purchase a couple of locks for sure. So what if you’re out all day? Your stuff should still remain where you left them. Unless they’ve got some free will like Andy’s toys from Toy Story.
In case you happen to be on regular medication, don’t forget to take them at the last minute. For obvious reasons. And even if you don’t need regular meds, make sure you buy a few basic meds for fever, acidity and etcetera, etcetera. Coz you never know how your body will react to a different climate. Plus, if you’re in your early twenties going into your mid-twenties, be prepared for your long-term relationship with acidity lol.
Here are the must-have essentials you’ll need to pack for a smooth transition into your new hostel life. And don’t forget even if you have to paste a post-it reminder on your forehead.
