Mahuli Fort Trek
The Sahyadris are a great attraction for any visitor or trekking enthusiast in Pune during monsoon. And they have many forts and other scenic locations to draw your attention. One of the hidden gems in the area is the Mahuli fort, which is located on the western side of Shahapur. Since it’s a little further away from the main range, the place tends to be less crowded and a lot more untouched and beautiful. Basically, if you wanna catch a short break from watching homo sapiens, then trek to Mahuli fort to witness some rare species of birds instead.

Sudhagad Fort Trek
If you’re on the lookout for treks near Pune, check out Sudhagad fort, one of the most popular trekking destinations in Maharashtra. Prabalgad Fort
Some of the most common trekking places in Pune are located in either Matheran or Panvel. But have you ever heard about Prabalgad Fort? It’s actually located right between these two areas in the Western Ghats. Situated on a plateau at a height of 2300 feet, you can be sure to get an incredible view of the Ghats during this trek. But hey, it can also be pretty challenging for a first timer. Keep in mind that this area also does not have a lot of access to water. So it’s best to carry sufficient amounts while trekking. Unless you want to drink water the way Bear Grylls did. If you know, you know.

Ratangad Fort
If you want a trekking experience for a weekend getaway, why not head to Ratangad fort? This is one for the real adventure junkies. To get to the base village of Ratanwadi, you first need to get a boat from Bhandardara. Your trek begins right from this moment as it is a four kilometer walk to the base village beyond which the trail starts. And though it can be a long process, it’s well worth it to reach the top and see the famous rock formation, the eye of the needle.
